May 7, 2008

Every year on May 8th Red Cross and Red Crescent societies worldwide take the opportunity to celebrate the birthday of the society’s founder Henry Dunant. Giving a chance to reflect on the foundation of the neutral, impartial humanitarian work of over 186 national societies

So once again throughout the nation, partner national societies of the Movement working with the local community on a variety of development projects invites citizens to a celebration of its history, to promote understanding of the Fundamental Principles and to share information about the work of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement here in the Maldives and around the world.

The day is to celebrate in a fun and interactive way, and as there were successful fun runs in the past two years, the community is invited for a run once again, as well as the activities at artificial beach (main stage area).
